It has just got tougher to crack the CBSEs All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT). In a move that will affect over 2.3 lakh students taking their AIPMT every year, the CBSE has decided that aspirants for the medical stream will get only three chances to crack the test after passing their 10+2 exam.
Also, beginning 2008, candidates above the age of 25 will not be able to appear for the pre-medical test. While the move may cause some amount of dismay, the examination body has made a concession for students who are already preparing for the May 2007 medical entrance exam.
They will be allowed to appear for the PMT in 2007, provided they have not appeared for the test thrice already. Anybody who is 25 years of age on December 31, 2006, will not be able to appear for the examination in 2008. They have, however, been given some relief and are being allowed to appear in 2007, said Vineet Joshi, secretary, CBSE.
At present, there is neither an age limit nor a restriction on the number of chances that a candidate gets. The move comes in the wake of changes made in the IIT-JEE system which also limited the number of attempts that a student can make to two, apart from adding a marks criteria of 60 per cent.

The CBSE has begun accepting on-line applications for the All India Pre-medical/Pre-dental entrance examination, 2008.
Aspiring students can submit their applications on-line on the website of the Central Board of Secondary Education, a CBSE official said.
The entrance test, conducted for 15 per cent of the merit positions in medical and dental colleges all over the country, involves a preliminary and final examination.

The results of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT), 2007 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) were declared today.
Based on the score of the final examination, 1,681 candidates have been placed in the merit list and another 1,681 on the wait-list, CBSE said in a release here.
As many as 2,10,318 candidates had registered for the preliminary examination, out of which 17,135 had qualified for the final examination that was held on May 13.

Jaspriya Sandhu, a student of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, has bagged the 34th slot in the All-India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.
The results of the entrance test were declared today.
Expressing her surprise at the result, Jaspriya said, Though I had worked hard, the rank is unexpected. I have stood 65th in the medical test conducted by Manipal University. I have also cleared the first round of AFMC, Pune. I would, however, go for CBSE PMT, and would prefer Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi.

CBSE declared the results of the All IndiaPre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination, 2008 on Saturday. According to CBSE, 22,014 candidates cleared the exam out of 1,61,230, who had appeared for it.
The examination was conducted in two stages and the final was held on May 5 this year.
