For the tenth year the first phase of CBSE tele-counselling help line will be functional from 1st February to 31st March 2007. As many as 42 principals, trained counselors from CBSE affiliated govt. and private schools, psychologistsfirst time from two new cities in Jabalpur and Jamnagar. Tele-counseling will be provided by these individual volunteers free of cost from 13 centres within the country. For the first time, this year two new centres have been set up outside India in Yemen and Sharjah. With this there are total five helpline centres including Dubai, Kuwait, Doha & Qatar operating abroad. and social scientists will operate this helpline individually from centres in Delhi, Chandigarh, Meerut, Noida, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bhubneshwar, Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Mumbai and for the

For better accessibility and convenience of the students, the centres have been arranged state-wise and students are advised to call the numbers closer to their location specially while dialing the mobile numbers. The detailed list is also enclosed for wider publicity.

Besides regular tele-counselling CBSE will offer counseling through a multi-tier system in order to enable more and more examinees to avail the facility of counseling reaching out especially to students in far flung areas.

CHENNAI: If the State Government move to secure 70 per cent of the seats in private self-financing colleges succeeds, the number of seats available in its quota for admission through Anna Universitys counselling and Single Window System (SWS) could cross 47,000 this year. Sources familiar with the admission process say the number of seats with Anna University and its constituent colleges will be nearly the same — 1,565 and 2,770 respectively.
