New Delhi : Dont coerce Class XI students to change streams after Class X results are out.
Taking stock of the mental and emotional stress caused by such unpsychological practices, the Central Board for Secondary Education has issued this warning to all affiliated schools. This rare move from the Board — which is a monitoring, not a punitive body — follows complaints from students over the past two years.
The warning notes that often, schools make a student who has picked the science stream while in Class X to switch to humanities or commerce if he or she has a poor board result.

Principal Sarita Sinha of Lala Lajpat Rai Senior Secondary School, Ranchi, would rather wait and watch, instead of jumping to conclusions about the scenario of the present education system.
So far, what she has seen of the system, leaves her satisfied. The syllabus, and the system, are relaxed and student-friendly.
There is nearly no examination stress as CBSE schools have stopped taking tests. Therefore, she finds it really sad when she detects stress-related issues troubling the young minds.
It is a problem Sinha believes parents add on to, however, little.

The Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Education has taken a cue from the ICSE and CBSE boards which has scrapped the system of announcing the merit list. It, too, will follow suit from the next academic year. The decision, however, hasnt gone down well with academicians and this years rank holders.
Students said that the boards decision would demotivate students.
With the introduction of the grading system, students will not take the board exams seriously.
The thought that you can make it to the merit list instills a sense of competition among students, said Dhara Solanki, HSC topper, Sathaye College.
