Maharashtra set to make flag hoisting mandatory in schools

MUMBAI: Maharashtra government is planning to implement a code of conduct for schools, which will make celebration of national days and flag hoisting mandatory even in CBSE and ICSE schools.

Minister of School Education Vasant Purke said the government will not favour any school violating the code.

Shiv Sena MLC Deepak Sawant raised the issue that CBSE and ICSE schools do not observe national days like 26 January and 15 August. National anthem is also not compulsory for them, he added.

In reply, Purke said the government is very serious on implementing the code of conduct to schools and strict action will be taken against schools violating norms.
