THE DU colleges are getting tech-savvy and that is bad news if you try to gain admission with a fake certificate. Abhishek Gaur realised this, a tad late, on Wednesday. The Hindu College authorities caught him out after they accessed his CBSE marks online and realised that the 19-year-old had submitted a cleverly forged certificate.

Gaur, who is reportedly the son of an IAS officer posted in Bareilly, UP, had applied for physics honours but he had got only about 70 per cent marks in Class XII. Kavita Sharma, principal of Hindu, said the boy had increased his score by 64 marks which put him in the 90 per cent bracket. Thirty marks were added to mathematics, 24 to chemistry and 10 to English.
